03Mechanism of action

Ipamorelin is a synthetic pentapeptide that releases growth hormone through the ghrelin (GH secretagogue) receptor, like GHRP-6. It was developed from a GHRP-1 series with the central Ala-Trp dipeptide removed.

04Study endpoints

In rat pituitary cells and in anaesthetised rats and conscious swine, GH-release potency and efficacy were similar to GHRP-6.
In swine it did not change FSH, LH, prolactin or TSH, and unlike GHRP-6 and GHRP-2 it did not raise ACTH or cortisol across a wide dose range.
In adult female rats, 15 days of treatment dose-dependently increased longitudinal bone growth (42 to up to 52 µm/day) without changing total IGF-I.
