01

Mechanism of action

Cartalax is described as the short peptide AED (Ala-Glu-Asp), one of the bioregulator peptides studied by Khavinson and colleagues for effects on gene expression in ageing cells.

02

Observed research endpoints

  • In ageing human mesenchymal stem cell cultures, AED, KED and KE at nanomolar concentrations modulated expression of ageing-related genes, including NFκB.
  • A peptide mixture including AED promoted markers of neuronal differentiation in human periodontal ligament stem cells.

03

Regulatory & safety context

  • Not approved by the FDA or EMA for any indication; research-grade material is not a medicine.
  • Evidence is from cell culture studies, mostly from one research group; no controlled human trials are cited.
