01

Mechanism of action

GHRP-6 is a synthetic hexapeptide that stimulates GH release through the ghrelin (GH secretagogue) receptor and acts synergistically with GHRH.

02

Observed research endpoints

  • As a diagnostic test, GH responses were lower in GH-deficient children than normal children, with considerable overlap; responses were almost completely blocked in pituitary stalk transection.
  • In rats, combined GHRH plus GHRP-6 was the most potent GH stimulus, showing synergy.

03

Regulatory & safety context

  • Not approved by the FDA or EMA for any indication; research-grade material is not a medicine.
  • Listed as prohibited in sport by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
