03Mechanism of action
Delta sleep-inducing peptide (DSIP) is a nonapeptide first isolated from rabbit blood during induced sleep. Its receptor and physiological role have not been established.

- Rat research concerns DSIP and the DSIP-containing preparation Deltaran; preparation-specific findings cannot automatically be attributed to a pure DSIP research vial.
- In a rat cerebral ischaemia model, all Deltaran-treated animals survived vs 62% of untreated animals.
