Selank is a synthetic analog of tuftsin (an immune-related tetrapeptide) with an added Pro-Gly-Pro sequence for stability. It is studied for effects on enkephalin breakdown and interactions with GABAergic signalling; cell findings depend on the treatment combination.

• In 62 patients with generalised anxiety disorder or neurasthenia, Selank's anti-anxiety effect was similar to medazepam's.
• That trial also reported anti-fatigue and stimulant-like effects, and higher blood enkephalin activity during treatment.
• In IMR-32 cells, Selank alone did not change the studied GABAergic-system mRNA levels; combinations with GABA or olanzapine altered the response to those agents.

• Not approved by the FDA or EMA; current Russian registration status was not independently verified in this audit.
• The main clinical data is small and Russian-language.
